Foam RollerWhether you are new to exercise or pushing yourself harder as the New Year gets underway, it’s likely you are experiencing some muscle soreness.

Delayed onset muscle soreness is the soreness that appears 12 to 24 hours after intense exercise and can last up to 72 hours after exercise. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) says this soreness is actually microscopic damage that occurs from unaccustomed loads on the muscles.

How can you help relieve muscle soreness without sacrificing performance? The answer is… foam rolling. Using a foam roller for 20 minutes after exercise has shown:

  • Reduced muscle soreness
  • Improved vertical jump height
  • Improved muscle activation
  • Improved range-of-motion

Use a foam roller after exercise to reduce muscle soreness and boost athletic performance.
